Really Good Books I Still Haven’t Read

bbed-book-club

I got a stash of really good books for Christmas that I’d actually asked for. I wanted them. I promised myself I would start my own private book club and  read at least one a month that I could then maybe critique when I launched this blog.

Fast forward to March — soon a quarter of the way through 2017 and what have I read? Zip! Zero! Zilch!

Tell a lie I’ve actually read about 100 pages of Turning the Tables written by  Teresa Guidice of ‘The Real  Housewives of New Jersey’ fame. When I said ‘written’ that’s in the very broadest of terms as she employed the talents of  a ghost writer called K.C Baker so you can guess the rest.

A very dear friend of mine gifted me the book because we are both mad about the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise. The day we first met we bonded over our love of trash tv! But even trash has its limits for me and this book is mind numbingly boring. At least I can say that each time I’ve attempted to read a few pages at bedtime –  its made me feel sooo sleepy.

As you can see by my selection above and below — I love gin, marketing and people — gin is always first 🙂

The ‘Hygge’ book was a gift from one of my lovely boys but by the time I get round to reading it the world will have moved on to the next big Scandinavian trend. Oh wait they have — it’s called  ‘Lagom’. Damn it!

I actually do read a lot. I read zillions of digital marketing and social media articles. Its a day job thing but I am truly passionate about what I do so it kind of spills over. Of course, I love blogs, too and I spend way too long on Facebook and Instagram. So you can see where my time is going.

I love magazines and find them an easy way to unwind once I have decided I am actually going to unwind and put my phone down for the night.

I’m going on holiday very soon so that’s always a good time to revive the book reading promise you made to yourself isn’t it?

I’m taking ‘Gin Glorious Gin’ by Olivia Williams ( no relation by the way!)

‘My Story’ by Jo Malone – I’d love her as my mentor — wouldn’t she be amazing?

‘The Million Dollar Blog’ by Natasha Courtenay-Smith – not that I think I can make a million from blogging but who knows — I’ve always thought I had a book in me — see my thoughts on that here – ha!ha!

I’ll let you know how I get on but I am taking this month’s Vogue, Hello Fashion Monthly, Woman & Home and Sunday Times Travel magazines along with my new Lonely Planet Iceland – so there is stiff competition.

Definitely take the book on gin and a bottle or two to accompany it. Perfect holiday companions. Enjoy!

Jo Malone – my story is a really good read. To read everything she’s gone through and how amazing her brand is definitely gives you ideas as a blogger!!

Do you think we would read more if we had more hours in the day, Sam? x

I have a massive stack of books that i want to read. I read about one a week though-more on the bus and in my dinner break at work. I like the idea of reading before bed but it usually sends me to sleep after a busy day!
